New melanoma cell lines
March 2016
SHARING OPTIONS:

LIMERICK, Pa.—Rockland Immunochemicals Inc. is now offering a new collection of human melanoma cell lines. The cell lines were developed and characterized in the lab of Dr. Meenhard Herlyn, Caspar Wistar Professor in Melanoma Research, director of the Melanoma Research Center and professor in the Molecular and Cellular Oncogenesis Program at The Wistar Institute. More than 100 of these cell lines will be grown and exclusively distributed by Rockland, an agreement that stems from the partnership the organizations established in July 2015. The collection consists of a diverse panel of highly characterized cell lines derived from patients’ tumors, and enables in-vitro and in-vivo modeling. Richard Smith, chief operating officer at Rockland, remarked that “These human melanoma cell lines not only enhance cancer research by bridging the gap between patient and laboratory samples, but set the bar extremely high for more collaborations to come.”
