Addressing antibody accuracy at GBSI workshop
November 2016
SHARING OPTIONS:

DANVERS, Mass.—At this year's Global Biological Standards Institute (GBSI) Antibody Validation Workshop, held at the end of September, Dr. Roby Polakiewicz, chief scientific officer of Cell Signaling Technology, spoke at two panels regarding antibody use. The workshop gathers individuals from multiple backgrounds to come up with recommendations for solutions to improve accuracy in research antibody usage and validation. The first panel, “Integration of Recombinant Antibodies,” was focused on the benefits of such antibodies for research use, their place in the market and how they address issues such as antibody quality and reproducibility. The second panel, “Producers and Service Providers in a Pivotal Role: QC/QA and Certification,” focused on current methods, needs and consumer information-sharing practices for validating research antibodies, which often falls under the QC/QA of the production process.
