Biogen-Absorption Systems license extended for one year
January 2017
SHARING OPTIONS:

EXTON, Pa.—Biogen Inc. and Absorption Systems, a leader in novel test systems for drug transporters, have renewed their technology licensing deal, which was originally established in October 2015. Absorption Systems had previously performed contract testing for Biogen with MDR1-MDCK cells, and the license covers technology associated with the test system. The cell line in question is stably transfected with the human MDR1 gene, which codes for the multidrug resistance protein, or P-glycoprotein (P-gp). The assay system allows for the testing of new drug candidates for interactions with P-gp, which plays a role in tumor resistance to anticancer drugs, drug distribution and clearance and drug-drug interactions. MDR1-MDCK cells express high levels of P-gp and enable the prediction of human outcomes in early-stage preclinical candidate testing.
