SANTA CLARA, Calif.—Two new scientific papers were published of late supporting the FATZO model as a significantly improved rodent model for obesity, dysmetabolism and type 2 diabetes in preclinical studies, Crown Bioscience (CrownBio) has reported. This model has been designed to present with polygenic obesity and a metabolic pattern of hyperglycemia and hyperinsulinemia. The studies conducted by CrownBio and its collaborators showed that the FATZO mouse is a more translatable model for these indications, including for developing therapeutics.

Charles Van Jackson, CSO CrownBio Indiana, remarked, “The FATZO mouse is an improved translatable model that provides us with a better understanding of the physiological and cellular mechanisms that lead from obesity, metabolic disorders, to diabetes. The data presented in these papers demonstrates that FATZO has several advantages over traditional rodent models and will impact the speed of drug discovery.”
