A point-of-care partnership
April 2018
SHARING OPTIONS:

BEDFORDSHIRE, U.K. & GLASGOW, U.K.—Mologic Ltd. has announced that it is teaming up with the Fraunhofer Centre for Applied Photonics (Fraunhofer CAP) for the development of a rapid point-of-care test for diagnosing bacterial urinary tract infections and associated antibiotic susceptibility in primary care settings. Additional project partners include Wideblue, Kelvin Nanotechnology, University of Strathclyde and Barclay Medical Practice. The technology will unite microfluidics with nanophotonic waveguides to assess the response of bacteria to small amounts of antibiotics. SBRI Healthcare, an NHS England initiative led by the Academic Health Science Networks, has awarded a £900K development grant to the project, in keeping with an NHS goal to accelerate innovation in general practice.
