HEIDELBERG, Germany—BioMed X has completed its first research collaboration project with Roche Diagnostics in nanomaterial-based biosensors for near patient testing, the company announced recently. Specifically, BioMed X achieved proof of principle for a sensor platform that will enable the analysis of a variety of analytes from whole human blood samples with a single device. The company's team was able to use this platform to demonstrate the first highly sensitive label-free detection of thyroid-stimulating hormone in undiluted human serum on a new FET sensor design based on gold and graphene. The project was launched in 2015, and an international team worked to design a “field effect transistor-based multimodal sensing platform … with a single-use disposable material for point-of-care diagnostics,” per a BioMed X press release. IP and know-how for this new platform has been transferred to Roche Diagnostics for further development.
