BANON study reaches full enrollment
January 2020
SHARING OPTIONS:

COLOGNE, Germany—Enrollment is complete for InfanDx AG’s clinical BANON study of the HypoxE-test. This test is being developed to rapidly diagnosis brain damage in newborns after asphyxia neonatorum, or oxygen deficit during delivery. Target enrollment was 500, and a total of 554 patients have been enrolled, allowing for all sub-cohorts to meet their recruitment goals. Asphyxia can cause permanent damage that can result in lifelong issues such as cerebral palsy. However, therapeutic intervention with hypothermia treatment within six hours after birth can partially or completely prevent such damage. The goal of BANON is to determine whether HypoxE-test can serve as a point-of-care diagnostic to identify newborns in need of treatment within the six-hour timeframe.
