March 2009
SHARING OPTIONS:

MECHELEN, Belgium—Galapagos NV has been awarded a €837,000 grant from the Flanders government through the Institute for the Promotion of Innovation by Science and Technology (IWT). Galapagos will elucidate the structure of novel drug targets and related small molecules in its bone and joint disease portfolio. The two-year project focuses on Galapagos' novel drug targets and the candidate drugs that bind to these targets. Galapagos said this information will help the company to design potent and selective drugs, potentially improving their efficacy to treat bone and joint diseases.  Galapagos will collaborate on this project with the renowned Structural Biology Brussels group at the Flanders Institute for Biotechnology (VIB).
