Millennium joins MMRF in personalized medicine initiative
November 2011
SHARING OPTIONS:

NORWALK, Conn.—The Multiple Myeloma Research Foundation (MMRF) has entered into a collaboration with Millennium: The Takeda Oncology Co., with a focus on advancing the MMRF's emerging research program in personalized medicine. The MMRF's Personalized Medicine Initiative is an eight-year, multifaceted program targeted at identifying the molecular origins of multiple myeloma and enabling doctors to match treatment approaches with the patients most likely to benefit from them. Millennium will provide financial support for MMRF's initiative, which is based around the recently launched Relating Clinical Outcomes in MM to Personal Assessment of Genetic Profile (CoMMpass) study. Dr. Nancy Simonian, chief medical officer at Millennium, said, "We believe strongly that the MMRF's Personalized Medicine Initiative will greatly improve our basic understanding of multiple myeloma, and will transform the way the entire research community works to turn new insights into testable hypotheses, and hypotheses into new treatments."
