Shire, Shionogi partner on ADHD medicines

DUBLIN—Global specialty pharmaceutical company Shire PLC and Japanese company Shionogi & Co. Ltd. have announced the establishment of an agreement for the co-development and co-commercialization of certain of Shire's ADHD medicines in Japan. Though specific financial details were not disclosed, Shire announced that it will receive a one-time fee from Shionogi, which will share costs with Shire in exchange for rights to jointly co- develop and co-commercialize the products once they receive approval for the Japanese market.  
 
Gian Piero Reverberi, senior vice president of Shire's International Specialty Pharma business, said in a press release, "our agreement with Shionogi further demonstrates Shire's commitment to enabling greater patient access to Shire's growing portfolio of specialist therapeutics around the globe, and specifically to the Japanese market."
