Teva, P&G announce Indian production plant

JERUSALEM—Teva Pharmaceutical Industries Ltd. and Proctor & Gamble Co. (P&G) have announced that their joint venture, PGT Healthcare, will be establishing a plant in India to produce consumer health and OTC products for both the Indian domestic market and for overseas markets, with an investment of $89 million. The plant will be located in Sanand, Gujarat and will produce inhalers, cough syrups and throat lozenges under P&G's Vicks brand. PGT Healthcare will have a beginning investment of approximately $45 million. H.G. Kohsia, the state of Gujarat's commissioner for the Food and Drug Control Administration, noted that the new facility will initially employ 500 people, with the potential for that number to increase to 1,000.
