MD Anderson receives $48.6M grant

HOUSTON—The National Cancer Institute has awarded the University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center with a $48.6-million, five-year grant for its research in cancer science, treatment and prevention. The grant will provide MD Anderson with $9.7 million annually for the support of 19 research programs and 16 shared resources that serve the whole institution. MD Anderson also earned an “exceptional” rating, with the panel rating the overall quality of its research programs as outstanding and noting that the center’s “leadership and institutional commitments ensure a strong, vibrant research environment.”
 
“We will continue to honor the trust and confidence placed in MD Anderson with our best efforts to improve cancer prevention and treatment as well as the quality of life of those who face these diseases,” said MD Anderson President Dr. Ronald DePinho.
