New RNA Isolation method, Ambion
June 2005
SHARING OPTIONS:

Ambion's unique Multi Enzymatic Liquefaction of Tissue (MELT) RNA Isolation System enables the hands-free disruption of multiple solid tissues in parallel without grinding tissue or using a Polytron.  This adds convenience and eliminates labware clean-up steps. Up to 10 mg of fresh or frozen tissue can be lysed at room temperature in 5-15 minutes using a combination of enzymes and a powerful RNase inhibitor. According to Ambion, MELT procedure yields 3-fold better results compared with traditional procedures and produces high-quality total RNA. The MELT System reagents irreversibly inactivate RNases, allowing storage of digested tissue for more than a week at room temperature without significant loss in RNA integrity. Ambion claims that RNA extracted using the MELT System works well in real-time RT-PCR as well as microarray expression profiling applications.
