Pre-packed columns for consistent screening of chromatography sorbents
Pall Corp.'s new pre-packed PRC chromatography sorbent columns eliminate the performance inconsistencies often associated with manually packed columns. Along with the PRC columns, Pall's new LRC empty glass columns allow researchers and process developers to quickly and easily evaluate different sorbents early in the drug development process to obtain necessary scale-up data. Pall's PRC 1 mL pre-packed columns guarantee sorbent packing quality and reproducible performance run after run on any standard liquid chromatograph with Pall's HyperCel and Ceramic HyperD sorbents. Users can select the most appropriate chemistry/ligand for a specific purification, avoiding mistakes due to improper packing. The geometry and parameters of the column are ideal for easy scale-up to larger empty columns. For mixed-mode applications, PRC columns employ pre-packed Pall HyperCel sorbents (MEP, HEA and PPA). By exploiting unique selectivities of robust synthetic ligands, HyperCel sorbents capture proteins or separate them from contaminants. For ion exchange chromatography applications, the pre-packed PRC columns use ceramic Q HyperD and CM HyperD sorbents with high capacity (up to 85 mg/mL) and high throughput. Pall's LRC empty-glass columns provide additional scale-up opportunities with minimum re-optimization. LRC columns allow users to work with larger volumes of sorbents (up to 900 mL); adjust the geometry of the columns in terms of diameters and bed height; and look at the impact of bed height on the separation.
