New Technique to Separate and Enrich Organelles, Alfa Wassermann Proteomic Technologies
September 2005
SHARING OPTIONS:

Alfa Wassermann Proteomic Technologies, LLC, introduced its new FOCUS Proteomics Sep-aration System. FOCUS uses a separation method Alfa Wasser-mann calls proteomics continuous-flow ultracentrifugation (pCFU) for the rapid, efficient, non-denaturing fractionation of organelles upstream from 2-D electrophoresis and mass spectrometry. Compared with other preparation methods, the Alfa Wasserman pCFU separation preserves the contents of organelles and enriches low-abundance proteins which may otherwise escape detection. An unlimited amount of sample can be loaded with the continuous flow technique. FOCUS efficiently separates and links fractionation and protein component enrichment to sub-cellular organization of the organ-elles, maintaining biological relevance and function. The FOCUS pCFU method is faster than current methods and yields more protein spots on a 2-D gel, and therefore provides more biologically relevant information than other isolation methods.
