OriGene Technologies and ISB create mass spec database for 5,000 human proteins

ROCKVILLE, Md.OriGene Technologies Inc., a gene-centric life sciences company, and the Institute for Systems Biology (ISB), have announced plans to create a proteotypic PeptideAtlas and develop a single reaction monitoring, multiple reaction monitoring (SRM/MRM) mass spectrometry standard database for 5,000 human proteins. The collaboration will apply ISB's systems biology mass spectrometry expertise to OriGene's collection of full-length human proteins. Dr. Wei-Wu He, OriGene's chairman and CEO, says the agreement marks "the first time a 5,000 human protein mass spectrometry standard database will be used to advance and accelerate medical research." Financial terms of the agreement were not disclosed.
